Battlecards: Prepare a bounded competitive decision aid
Competitive material mixes verified facts, sales opinion, old claims, and unsupported comparison into a document that is difficult to trust.
The useful response is not another status layer. It is a mechanism that can prepare a bounded competitive decision aid.
What the skill produces
The Battlecards skill turns supplied context into a dated battlecard with sources, customer context, verified comparisons, unknowns, talk tracks, and review owner. It should expose missing evidence instead of inventing it. This article explains the operating model. The skill is part of the premium library, so the brief does not reproduce private package contents or a public download path.
Run the mechanism
- Define the customer decision and comparison scope.
- Separate verified evidence, attributed input, inference, and unknowns.
- Set an owner and expiration or review date for every material claim.
The accountable owner reviews the output against the source evidence before it is used. Material unknowns remain labeled and receive an owner and date when they affect the decision.
Failure check
A battlecard becomes risky when it invents competitor claims, treats opinion as fact, or survives beyond its evidence date.
Adoption test
Audit one live card against its sources. Remove or relabel claims that cannot be verified, then review usage with the responsible team.
Keep the skill only if the result improves against that baseline. Revise the playbook when the same operating failure survives more than one review cycle.
